Overview #
Tracking your WhatsApp button clicks helps to monitor how many customers click on the button. This guide explains how to set up tracking through Google Analytics and Meta Pixel.
Enabling Tracking in WhatsApp Mini App #
Access WhatsApp Mini App, then
Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Advanced > Tracking section

Step 2: Enable the toggles for Google Analytics and Meta Pixel
Step 3: Create an Event name for tracking button clicks and copy it for use in your analytics platforms

Setting Up Google Analytics Tracking #
Note: If you have not set up Google Analytics for your store, you can start setting up with Google’s official guide and allow up to 48 hours for full activation.
Step 1: Access your Google Analytics account, go to Admin > Events

Step 2: Click “Create event”
Step 3: Paste the event name copied from WhatsApp Mini App
Step 4: Select “Create without code” and enter your store URL

Step 5: Click “Create” to finish
Viewing Performance Data #
To monitor WhatsApp button performance:
Step 1: Navigate to the Reports tab in Google Analytics
Step 2: Select “User engagement & retention” > “Events”
Step 3: Locate your WhatsApp button event and track key metrics:
- Event count (total clicks)
- Total users (unique visitors who clicked)
- Event count per active user (average clicks per user)

These insights help you understand customer engagement patterns and optimize your WhatsApp communication strategy.
